First off, this is a wonderful picture, I only have one suggestion, and that's to put more light in the picture, maybe add more resolution in your camera, other than that, bravo! The northern lights are hard to take as photos, and even i have trouble with it sometimes, the only hard part about taking pictures of them is the lighting. I hope to see more pictures of the northern lights hthere and hopefully I can see them better. other than that I love how visible the stars are! Even the big dipper is visible, I also notice a couple of planets, but none the less, this is really captivating and I put this in my favorites.
Thanks for the feedback! From a technical standpoint, I agree with you 100% that there needs to be more light in the photograph; however, I think I've been bumping up against the limitations of my equipment (Canon 40D) as increasing the exposure in Lightroom 3 was resulting in less than satisfactory image quality. The night that I took this photograph they were actually quite dim and running joke was that we were seeing "gray mist in they sky, thank goodness for cameras!"
With regards to more pictures, I actually maintain a Flickr account as well where I have some more photographs.
